OK - I will start - now mind you - these are my opinions and... They are based on games I have actually played!
In no particular order...
Left 4 Dead (Xbox360) - Wow - the first time you play it... It just blows you away... Best co-op experience... Ever. Gears of War 2 (Xbox360) - Loved this game - far more than the original - probably the best co-op campaign yet (very different from L4D) Horde mode is a blast... Little Big Planet (PS3) - Most played game on our PS3 - OK... second most - see below The new social gaming experience - Playing community levels = FUN! Pain (PS3) - Yep... The game where you fling dudes into buildings... Holy crap - you'll laugh till ya split yer underpants... Fallout 3 (Xbox360) - The scope of this game will blow you away - VATS has to be one of the best game mechanics I have seen in a long time... Chrono Trigger (DS) - I am a fickle bitch when it comes to sticking with games sometimes... (just ask WB...) but 30 hours in and can't put it down! Wii Fit (Wii) - This is one I should play more - not really a game, more of a life style choice but oh my what a home run of an idea - and it actually works! Rock Band 2 (Xbox360) - More of an evolution than revolution but they really nailed it - hard to pin point but better than Rock Band in every way... Boom Blox (Wii) - So. Much. FUN! Really... If you have a family and a Wii - GET THIS GAME! Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox360) - I think I am one of the few that liked this better than COD 4 - Plus the 4 Player co-op (with points on) is great fun...
Runners Up
GTA IV (Xbox360) - I know, I know... I just have a hard time getting into these... Multi-player was awesome however - need to play some more of this! Professor Layton and the Curious Village (DS) - If I had not lost this fantastic puzzle game... I would still be playing it - Great Stuff... Edged out by Chrono... Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - Love to play it... HORRIBLE at it... But love to play it... Fable 2 (Xbox360) - Really like this game but once I started playing Fallout 3 it kind of got lost in the shuffle... Weird Worlds: Return To Infinite Space (PC/Mac) - A great hybrid space strategy/adventure game that plays out like a 30 minute Star Trek episode - fun and cheap!

In no exact order. Fallout 3 (360) Long and deep Rpg that will last anyone along time not even including replay value. Far Cry 2 (360) A successful evolution of the series great rpg elements like upgrading your weapons that you buy with diamonds you find or earn by the end I was running around with 2 types of grenade launchers a LMG and a knife. Rock Band 2 ( 360) A longer more extensive set list better bass pedal, and it comes with 20 free songs. Saints Row 2 (360) The game that came from the back of the pack Grabbed GTA threw it out of a plane and showed rockstar how a GTA game is supposed to be. Crayon Physics ( PC) An entertaining casual game where you draw in physics objects to work a red ball to a star. Gears of War 2 (360) A lenghty single player game with an awesome horde mode.
Thats all Ive got this was a huge year with uber hyped titles that all fell face first. to Borrow a Phrase everthing was a resounding Meh. lots of games maybe worth a rental but hardly anything you really have to buy.

Going on with XT's theme, I remember the days when there was A game to get, everyone got it on release day or soon after, and EVERYONE played it to death. This year was nothing like that and I think that's a shame. Sure, we have more choices now, but I think the market just gets flooded all at once, so you are forced to choose, then you tend to forget about games OR by the time you get into the multiplayer of that game you picked up a month later, everyone else is so high level that you have no chance.
With THAT said, can you tell I'm missing some of my gamer buds? Here are my top picks for last year:
Boom Blox (Wii) - was this an '08 title? Best party game out there. It grabs your non-gamer friends and sucks them in. Plus the kids can play it too. Wii Fit (Wii) - can't believe 2 Wii titles came out first, but I did spend a lot of time with this one. Pretty ingenious when you think about it. Ya gotta recognize them for this one. Gears of War 2 (360) - Love, love LOVE the campaign on this one and the horde mode was a blast. We haven't even cracked the surface of all the multiplayer options. Left for Dead (360) - how fun was this game?? They definitely need to release more scenarios and we all DEFINITELY need to get a big group going to play the verses mode. COD:WaW (360) - yeah, I gotta get this one up here. REALLY great co-op, exciting. I loved COD4 so how could I not love this one? Rock Band 2 (360) - This one has everything over the new Guitar Hero. The no fail mode was a great addition for the family and there really is nothing better than a night with my band and my chocolate martini's. If only we could have more players at a time!
Sadly I think that's it for me. I spent time on other games this year but this will round out the new in '08 category.

K mine are sorry all on the 360 cause that's all i use
GOW 2 I find myself continually playing the campaign just started on insane and it lives up to the name. Left for Dead I really wasn't expecting it to be this much fun not just want more content! Rock Band 2 cause well more songs and yes the no fail mode has made it great for when non gamer friends come over and see the stuff and then play. Castle Crashers yes I know very simple game but man it was great art and alot of fun. Kingdom of Keflings another great arcade game SW force unleased cause it was a interesting story line and grabbing stormtroopers and throwing them was a blast! Lego Indiana Jones with how fun the star wars ones were i kinda figured ehh same thing it'll be fun but to much the same. Well I was half wrong and right same things but a whole lot funner.
Well this is my list I would add COD WaW but since I suck at it but have fun playing multiplayer with you all it didn't make my list.

BrownMan's 2008 Xbox 360 Gaming Awards !!!
Top 3 Retail Games
1. Dead Space - Easily the scariest game ive ever played. This game defines the Survival Horror genre. Not to mention its a great game on top of that.
2. Saints Row 2 - The best sandbox game out there to date. Far superior to Grand Theft Auto IV is almost everything. Playing the whole game in co-op with a friend is nothng short of fantastic.
3. Left 4 Dead - The best 4 person co-op game ive ever had. This is the new standard for co-op games. 4 player Zombie Killing = EPIC
Top 3 Arcade Games
1. Braid - Johnathan Blow's creation is one of my favorite games of all time. The music, the story, the gameplay everything is fantastic. Sure people complained about the $15 price tag, but this XBL arcade game is an instant hit.
2. Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix - Ah the return of the classic game, what an i say? It's street fighter 2 with updated graphics. But the graphics are beautiful. Newly drawn sprites and animations, not to mention this game is made for 1080p.
3. A Kingdom For Keflings - This game came outta left field, and i was little hesitant, but this game is a hidden gem. With its catchy music, co-op gameplay, relaxing atmosphere this game is fun for everybody.
Top 3 Disappointment
1. Grand Theft Auto IV - This game killed me inside. I rode the bandwagon all the way to launch. I was excited to play it, for the first few hrs i convinced myself this game was amazing. But 2 hrs in I realized how overrated it was. The "not so" original Story, managing ur friends, the girlfriends, etc. This is the most overrated game of the year, hands down.
2. Guitar Hero World Tour - Coming out after Rock Band 2 I assumed this game would try to duplicate Rock Band 2. Turns out the only thing they duplicated was the songs >_< Horrible Online, Horrible Songs, Broken Instruments, and a huge amount of Disappointment.
3. Monopoly - How do you **** this up? I'll tell you. $40 Retail game, no online play, and the new "Richest" mode. THIS SHOULD OF BEEN A $10 XBOX LIVE ARCADE GAME!!!! DAMN YOU EA AND HASBRO, DAMN YOU TO HELL !!!!!!!
Top 3 Suprises
1. Quantum Of Solace - A video game based off a movie being good? Well kinda, this game took by suprise. This game is actually a good shooter. Made by the CoD: World At War (Treyarch) team they simply used the Call Of Duty with a 007 paintjob. Throw in a good cover system and great voice acting and you got yourself a good game. A definite must rent is ur a FPS fan.
2. Condemned 2: Bloodshot - FPS CSI? Sounds a little wacky well it kinda is, but the first game scared the crap out of me (Thats a good thing)and I didn't think anything could scare me more. But nothing is scarier than a CRAZED BEAR CHASING YOU THROUGH AN ABANDON HOUSE. I <3 this game
3. Fable 2 - Never played the first one and not even a fan of RPG's, but this game just completely grabbed me and never let me go. The world, the people, the crazy orgies!. This game is a must buy for ny RPG fan.
That's about it. Sry its only Xbox 360 games, since thats all I play! Hope you enjoyed!

A bit late to the party, but whatever.
1. Valkyria Chronicles(PS3) A fantastic game that almost one one played. A turn based strategy RPG third person shooter that was just... wow. Also one of the best looking games out there. I totally recommend buying it. Or at least renting it.
2. Left 4 Dead(X360) One of the greatest zombie games out there. Can get a bit old after a while but, that's what co-op and versus is for.
3. Metal Gear Solid 4(PS3) The ending was a little bit "wat?" But, still an good way to end the series.
4. Saints Row 2(X360) It's like GTAIV, but better!
5. Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice(PS3) A fun tactical RPG. Not bad for $40 American.
6. Chrono Trigger(DS) An extremely well done remake of a fantastic SNES game.
7. Metal Slug 7(DS) Dude, it's Metal Slug.
8. Rainbow Six: Vegas 2(X360) It's better that the first.
9. Monster Madness: Grave Danger(PS3) It's wayyy better then the 360 version.
10. ? (I got nothin')
Games that were almost there.
Call of Duty:World at War(X360) A fun game with the most used genre on Earth. A bitch and a half to get due to Germany's restrictions. Eternal Sonata(PS3) Fun game that 9-11'ed my brain with its absurd and rather stupid at times plot. Dead Space(PS3) Every scare in the game are just pop-up scares. This game fails at it's genre. Persona 4(PS2) A fun game with a plot that makes my brain leak out my ears.

So I don't play that many games since I honestly don't have the time or the money to explore all of the new and exciting games out there. But here are my choices in no order.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl - No disappointment here, great game and great co-op mode to work through the story with friends.
Left 4 Dead - Really fun game, and you create a bunch of great stories from playing with friends online. (Like this one time when RobinHoodLV5 was about to complete the first campaign mission with noone dying and a tank came out of no where and flew Louis off the edge of the building. Louis had no chance!)
Assassin's Creed (whenever it came out) - Fun game, let's you feel awesome playing a super overpowered character, only one flaw (why can't he swim?) I am looking forward to the sequel though.
Rock Band - This game was great, it really got a bunch of kids together be like rock stars. I had my doubts at first...who would want to sing in public? But in all seriousness it turned out amazing.
Boom Blox - Terribly addicting game. I have no idea what was so fun about it, but it captured all audiences. I know for a fact that my mom doesn't play many game, and she would play this the first thing in the morning before going to work. Crazy!
Mario Kart Wii - Although this wasn't as much fun as double dash, I believe it should still be 1 of the top 10. Great online play - few frustrating aspects though with synchronization but still pretty fun.
WoW:WotLK - Great expansion, awesome cutscenes to follow up a great story. They did a few things right here with telling the background story while you downloaded the game and such to get everyone up to date. However, the death knights starting at lvl 55 - BAD idea. There is an overpopulation of them and it needs to be put to a stop.
I'm out of ideas for now...I'll post again if I remember more games.
