Hey there guys and dolls, its Man0fSound, your unofficial resident how to investigator. Just wanted to let you all in on some stuff I found for Call Of Duty 4
NOTE: I pull my information from multiple internet sources, some of which might be incorrect, I try my best to verify my information but if you find any mistakes please let me know. also im still trying to figure out how to get images into my posts(yes i know how lame that sounds) but once i do ill have the symbol for each perk next to the description
So lets start with perks: Perks allow a player in COD4 to customize each weapon similar to a RPG(Role Playing Game…. Not a Rocket propelled Grenade)… ranks that the perk is achieved are from a single site and might be wrong, but this is a complete list of the perks… I think
Perk 1 Slot:
C4 x2 (Rank 1)
The C4 Explosives perk gives you two C4 explosives that you can detonate remotely using the fire button, or if you are using your primary weapon you can detonate them by double tapping the use button.
Special Grenades x3 (Rank 1)
This one gives you 3 special grenades as opposed to just one.
RPG-7 x2 (Rank 2)
The RPG-7 x2 perk gives you two ground-to-air missiles that are very useful for shooting down helicopter air strikes. It should also be noted that they can explode cars and other destrutible objects on the map, and are very fun to shoot at spawn points, followed by a cooked nade.
Claymore x2 (Rank 23)
Claymores are mine that you can plant to blow people up when they’re in range. They are short range and the explosion is very directional so they’re best used in doorways and places of limited visibility. It takes some practice to get good at placing them, but they’re an excellent addition to your arsenal on some maps.
Frag x 3 (Rank 41)
The Frag x3 perk gives you three frag grenades instead of one
Bandolier (Rank 32)
The Bandolier perk gives you more ammo for your guns
Bomb Squad (Level 14)
The Bomb Squad perk allows you to detect explosives planted in the map. This is useful if you are up against people who just love using bombs, and have C4 and Claymores hidden throughout the map. edited by Man0fSound on 9/15/2008

Perk 2 Slot:
Stopping Power (Rank 1)
Stopping Power gives your weapon some extra power, this is great for SMG’s like the Uzi.
Juggernaut (Rank 1)
The Juggernaut perk, does what it says…makes you a juggernaut, this lets you take more damages than usual.
Sleight of Hand (Level 20)
Sleight of Hand helps you to reload weapons quickly. There is also a way of reloading weapons just as quickly buy performing a Reload Add Cancel. Reload Cancel is easy to do: just Sprint, Melee, or Switch Weapons while reloading. Cancel after the ammo counter fills up = shortened reload. There are three ways to cancel reloading and get the weapon ready whether or not it has loaded the ammunition: -Melee Attack -Switch Weapons -Sprint Melee has a long recovery (longer than what the Add Time would cut off) and should only be used to cancel if intending to attack. Sprint and Switch compete for speed. In the end, Sprint gives the shortest possible cancel time and allows the player full mobility instead of waiting for the weapon switch to be able to Sprint. NOTE: Performing the Cancel is pointless with this perk active
Double Tap (Level 29)
Double Tap increases the rate of fire for your weapon. This really helps balance things out for weapons that have a slow rate of fire, and makes some weapons like the M16 MUCH better. I highly recommend using this perk with the Bandolier perk as you’ll be going through a lot more ammo than usual.
Overkill (Level 38)
Overkill allows you to carry a second primary weapon instead of a pistol this is very useful because switching weapons is always faster than reloading.
UAV Jammer (Level 11)
The UAV Jammer perk helps to keep you off the enemy radar. When you fire a weapon, you show a temporary blip on the enemies radar. When they get a UAV up, you show up all the time. Having this perk prevents you from showing up when they get their UAV going, but when you fire…you’ll still show as a temporary blip. Having a silencer on your weapon AND this perk is the only way to be totally off their radar at all times
Sonic Boom (Rank 1)
The Sonic Boom perk gives your explosions some added blast radius, and is great when using frags, grenade launchers, or the Martyrdom perk edited by Man0fSound on 9/15/2008

Perk 3 Slot:
Extreme Conditioning (Rank 1)
The Extreme Conditioning perk allows you to run for a much longer time, and is great in maps where you need to get to a certain point faster than someone else, or when you are trying to escape someone. The amount of time of the increase is roughly 2 times the normal sprint time.
Steady Aim (Rank 1)
The Steady Aim perk give you better aim when not using iron sights or what-have-you. When you are running around in CoD4, your head and body bob, and affect your aim much more than in previous Call of Duty games. This perk restores some of the stability found in other CoD games, and makes aiming while running that much easier.
Last Stand (Level 8)
Last stand gives you one last chance to shoot the person who killed you with your pistol sidearm. This can be useful on servers filled with beginners, but players are quickly getting used to finishing people of gangland-style because so many beginners are using this. Also, most medium to high ranked players will be using the Martyrdom perk instead,
Deep Impact (Level 1) A lot of weapons in CoD4 can now shoot through things like corrugated steel, boxes and thin walls. The Deep Impact perk emphasizes this, but also gives lower powered weapons a bit of a boost
Iron Lungs (Level 26)
The Iron Lungs perk is interesting. The whole sniper cl*** has caused quite a stir with Call of Duty fans because it is much harder to snipe in CoD4. This perk helps by allowing you to hold your breath longer, and keep the gun steady.
Dead Silence (Rank 44)
The Dead Silence perk makes you quiet, so that people don’t hear you walk up behind them. No more floor board squeaks giving away your position.
Eavesdrop (35)
Eavesdrop is an interesting perk - it allows you to listen in on enemy chatter as you fight, this is a great tool to use against those using stealth perks that make them hard to find on a map, and on the radar.
Martyrdom (17)
Martyrdom is one of the most popular perks, and also one of the most annoying. This perk lets you drop a live grenade just after dying, typically killing whoever just tore you up. This has people now sprinting away from corpses, as well as shooting at them just in case they have Last Stand instead. Because of this, if you’re sneaking up on someone who is about to kill someone, be prepared and have your pistol out to shoot them quickly before they run away. Also, if one of your team members has just killed the enemy in a closed room, be careful not to get caught in the door as you both run out. Finally, if you can, try picking up the dropped grenade, and throw it at another enemy(though the success of this is sketchy at best) edited by Man0fSound on 9/15/2008

so what in the world do i do with all this information? Well thats up to you but hear are some proven combinations that should help you get started, once your comfortable with the perk system branch out and find what works best with your gaming style
For the beginner/all purpose fighter Whether you are just starting, or want a cl*** to fall back to when the going gets rough and nothing seems to be working, this is what I recommend: Weapon: M16 w/best scope or sight your level allows Perk 1: Special Grenades X 3 OR RPG X 2 Perk 2: Stopping Power Perk 3: Deep Impact The great thing about this custom cl*** is that it is available to anyone who can create a cl***. The M16 is a powerful weapon to begin with, but with the addition of Stopping Power can kill most anyone with a single burst. The scope will allow you to see targets that are peeking out from behind cover, with Deep Impact giving you the ability to pierce the cover and finish them off. As for the final perk, it's really up to you if you want to use special grenades or RPGs--it depends on whether or not you want to be effective against troops or the potential enemy helicopter.
For the aggressor Weapon: Scorpion w/red dot sight attachment Perk 1: Special Grenades X 3 (Stun) Perk 2: Stopping Power Perk 3: Martyrdom Most people would pick the Uzi because it has a higher rate of fire, but the Scorpion is a great weapon because its accuracy is decent (seriously, you can kill people from across the map with a red dot sight). Also, the increased damage from Stopping Power will more than make up for the lower rate of fire, allowing you to kill most any opponent with only a few rounds. Use the stun grenades with reckless abandon, throwing them into every room before you enter. Martyrdom completes the package because well, you're going to die a lot, and probably close to your opponent, so why not drop a grenade and try to take them with you?
wow i never realized how touchy our filter is i cant even put CL@$$ in a post see look cl*** edited by Man0fSound on 8/5/2008
